Kalicia Bean is the Bureau of Indian Affairs student volunteer for the 2016-2017 school year. As a part of the Nisqually River Education Project Kalicia will serve as the education intern and assist in promoting environmental awareness and stewardship. Kalicia has experience working with the Puget Creek Restoration Society in habitat restoration as well as community outreach and advocacy. Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington Kalicia has recently returned after spending 3 years in Corvallis, Oregon. She is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Natural Resources through Oregon State University. Her areas of interest tends to focus more on human impacts on ecosystems and specifically in relation to differing views across cultures as well as political and capitalist influence.
In her spare time she enjoys running, hiking, snowboarding and gym time in addition to spending time with her dog, friends, family and attending as many music festivals as possible!
