Working to protect and promote the Nisqually Watershed for current and future generations

Meet Brandon!

Welcome to our Washington Service Corps member, Brandon Bywater! Brandon comes to us from the Chicago area, and has already led Nearshore field trips, trained volunteers, and taught water quality monitoring lessons with over 20 classes around the watershed.

I am an Environmental Educator working with the Nisqually River Education Project. Since receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, with a focus on education, I have held positions working with students ranging in age from 6 to 17 years old. Most of my experience has been focused on stewardship and service learning programs including native plant and habitat restoration, invasive species removal, hiking, backpacking and field studies. As an environmental educator I understand that positive experiences in nature at a young developmental stage can have significant impacts on our love for our natural resources and our desire to protect them; my hope is to become a small part of those interactions as we inspire future generations and embolden our society’s sense of stewardship. My goal for working with the NREP is to become part of something bigger than myself as I strengthen my penchant for interpretation in the natural world and translate my passion into a refined skill for education and conservation.
