I’m thrilled to be Nisqually River Education Project’s new Environmental Education/Tribal Liaison Americorps. Originally from Chesapeake, Virginia, I’ve spent the past 8 years learning about the flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest. I have a Bachelors of Art from The Evergreen State College, focusing on media, animation, marine biology, and botany and have a certification in Natural Science Illustration through the University of Washington. I have taught science illustration and 2D animation at Gage Academy of Art, as well as taking students on many exciting field trips! My working history includes teaching, social work, outreach, A/V media, and more! I love going to tide pools, searching for nudibranchs, and drawing organisms from direct observation. I am deeply committed to sharing my joy for the outdoors with others and believe that youth should be listened to and taken seriously. With this experience, I look forward to working more in the field of science in hopes of being accepted into a Master’s in Environmental Studies program. I look forward to seeing students outside!
